Hmmm...

Just watching the Gerry Adams episode of Channel 4's History of the Bible.

Proof, if proof were needed, that a profound religious faith can be instrumental in helping one justify to oneself the necessity of doing whatever the fuck one likes.

Isn't Google Wonderful?!

I would dearly love to claim this as my own:

“…we shamefully mistreated the Intelligent Design (ID) theorists by lumping them in with creationists. Creationists believe that God designed all life, and that's a somewhat religious idea. But ID theorists think that at unspecified times some unnamed superpowerful entity designed life, or maybe just some species, or maybe just some of the stuff in cells. That's what makes ID a superior scientific theory: it doesn't get bogged down in details.”

Unfortunately I can't - it comes from the entry for March 2, 2005 on mrbobhatesyou.blogspot.com.
(Check out the entry on the internet-related desk-fan incident - it's a hoot)
I was looking for the Scientific American article 15 Answers to Creationist Nonsense at the time.

As I say, isn't Google a wonderful thing?

Do War on Want Know?

If you tremble with indignation at every injustice then you are a comrade of mine

- Ernesto 'Che' Guevara, as quoted on a hoodie for sale in PRIMARK

I really wish that I could claim to have made that up. However, it's entirely true.

It's worth noting, that the reproduction of that iconic picture of Che Guevara was of such high quality that I initially thought it might have been a still of Roddy McDowell from Planet of the Apes.

Evil! EVIL! EEEEEEEEVILLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!

... and I don't think I'm being overly hyperbolic about this either.

Bogged down with work, I thought "I must leave the house today."

So, about 12 o'clock, I decided to decamp with a copy of Jones and Jones to the lovely cafe, Utopia, and do a bit of VI form planning whist indulging in a bacon toastie lunch and an Americano.

Got there at 3 pm - no idea where the intervening three hours went, but I dimly recall that it involved Hetty Wainthrope - and threw all self restraint to the wind by following up said toastie and Americano with a caramel slice and a second Americano. (Bu**er the gym)

Note how welcoming and relaxing the environs of said Utopia are that I simply had to reorganise my afternoon in order to stay a bit longer.

Unfortunately, the corporate b**tards of Costa coffee have it in for them. They are planning to decamp from the lobby of the Abbey Bank opposite to the premises of the cheapo sports-wear/chav outfitters shop NEXT DOOR to Utopia.

THEY MUST NOT BE ALLOWED TO GET AWAY WITH IT!!!
